Giving
U-M’s Aerospace Engineering Department is looking to the future, intent on tackling the world’s biggest problems—and solving them.
With the oldest Aerospace Engineering program in the country, the University of Michigan has a long legacy of impact in the field of aerospace — but we’re not ready to stop there. This is our world, and what becomes of it is up to us. Join us in our quest for bold ideas and life-changing solutions. Together, we can solve the problems of tomorrow.
GIVING OPPORTUNiTIES
Luis Bernal Memorial Student Award
While we lost our dear friend and colleague Luis Bernal in April, the Department of Aerospace Engineering is perpetuating his legacy through a new student-focused award. The Luis Bernal Memorial Student Award will be presented each year to a junior or senior Aerospace Engineering student who has demonstrated notable improvement in his/her academic record from previous years.
During his tenure in our department, Luis touched the lives of hundreds of students as their advisor, teacher, or mentor. His infectious optimism and abundant patience left an indelible mark not only with the students but with staff and fellow faculty.
The Award will provide each recipient with $1,500 to use on such things as travel expenses, conference fees, and experiential learning opportunities—items that will enhance our students’ academic performance and career opportunities.
