Karen Ann (Bagley) Albrecht (BSE Aero ’72) made a generous gift to establish the endowed Karen Bagley Albrecht Scholarship Fund within the College of Engineering. This scholarship fund provides need-based support to undergraduate students in the Department of Aerospace Engineering who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. This gift will also be matched by the University’s Bicentennial Opportunity Matching Initiative.
With more than 35 years of experience in the aerospace engineering industry, Ms. Albrecht began her career as an aerospace engineer at NASA working on Space Shuttle. After joining Lockheed Martin, she worked on missile launching systems, basic research, commercial aircrafts, undersea systems, SMART structures, robotics and high-performance military aircrafts. She retired as Director of Engineering, and she is now CEO of Karen Albrecht Enterprises, a career and personal development organization.
Ms. Albrecht serves on several university engineering and non-profit boards. In recognition of her industry accomplishments and devoted service, she received the 2007 Michigan Engineering Alumni Merit Award in the Department of Aerospace Engineering.
